Itinerary
Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road is a must-see road excursion. We will take you on a journey of magnificence, showcasing beautiful beaches, lush rainforest, and craggy limestone rock formations.
The 12 Apostles, located near Port Campbell National Park in Victoria, are a must-see natural wonder. Immerse yourself in the natural splendour of the shoreline and learn about its history and legends from our knowledgeable guides.
Depart Melbourne
After leaving Melbourne, we go to the Surf Coast, passing through beautiful seaside villages including Anglesea, Lorne, and Airey’s Inlet. We stop along the road for morning tea and fresh sea air, observing surfers out on the water. Due to its proximity to Antarctica, this location is ideal for surfing and requires wetsuits.
Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch
Visit the monument commemorating the Great Ocean Road’s original beginning site. After visiting the Memorial Arch and learning about the soldiers who built the route in honour of their dead comrades, we will continue our journey through breathtaking landscapes, stopping for photos along the way.
Search for Wild Koalas and Native Birds
We’ll stop along the Great Ocean Road to spot Koalas in their natural habitat. Our skilled guides know the ideal areas to observe them sleeping in the jungle, yet we cannot guarantee their appearance due to their untamed nature.
Stop for Lunch in Apollo Bay
Guests enjoy a welcome lunch break in Apollo Bay (about 45 minutes, at their own expense). After seeing Apollo Bay, shopping for souvenirs, and enjoying wonderful ice cream, take the bus back to the Great Otway National Park.
Guided Rainforest Walk in the Great Otway National Park
Continue on the Great Ocean Road to the lovely green slopes of Great Otway National Park. Drive through towering eucalyptus trees to a cool, temperate rainforest. Take a walk through Myrtle Beach’s tree ferns and marvel at the ‘old treasures’ for a breathtaking view. These trees, native to Australia’s supercontinent Gondwanaland, offer ideal canopy shade. Enjoy the fresh air before driving to the breathtaking Shipwreck Coast.
The 12 Apostles
After leaving the forests and returning to the Southern Ocean, we reach Port Campbell National Park, which features the famed 12 Apostles. We will spend about 40 minutes at Apostles, where you will enjoy free time to soak in the views from every angle, wander along the boardwalks, and shoot the perfect picture of this wild and rugged coastline.
Loch Ard Gorge and Shipwreck Coast
In the National Park, we visit Loch Ard Gorge, where one of Australia’s legendary shipwrecks occurred, hear the story of Tom and Eva, and explore the caverns on the beach. Rock formations here include the Island Archway, Razorback, and Salt and Pepper Shakers.
The Great Ocean Road Trip returns to Melbourne
After a day of sightseeing, we leave the Great Ocean Road and travel back to Melbourne over country roads. We go across farmlands to the small village of Colac. Guests are welcome to get a quick bite for dinner (at their own expense) before returning to Melbourne at 8:30 p.m.
